Overview
Backsight is a quantified self tool focused on privacy. You speak or type a moment as it happens; the app transcribes on-device and stores notes end-to-end encrypted. Instead of asking you to decide what to measure upfront, it analyzes what you've actually recorded and surfaces patterns: themes, repetition, distributions, correlations over time, with sample size shown so you don't over-read them. It describes the patterns and leaves the meaning to you—no advice, no coaching, no diagnosis. The app is accountless (your encryption keys are your identity), works offline, and lets you export your data anytime as raw CSV or JSON, never paywalled. Planned add-ons include encrypted sync and an optional agent interface.

Yes. Transcription happens on your device, notes are end-to-end encrypted, and sync uses keys only you hold. The company cannot read your records.
Do I need an account?
No. Backsight is accountless: your encryption keys are your identity. The only email requested is for the waitlist, to notify you when the product launches.
Can I get my data out?
Yes, always. You can export data as raw CSV or JSON at any time. Export is free, never paywalled, and there is no lock-in.
What does it cost?
