Crontinel monitors Laravel cron jobs, queues, and Horizon to detect when scheduled tasks complete without doing the work, alerting via email when outcomes fail

Overview

Screenshot of the Crontinel homepage

The Crontinel homepage

Crontinel is a background job monitoring tool that solves a critical gap in existing monitoring: it understands that a process can exit successfully (exit code 0) while failing to accomplish its business objective. The tool monitors three key areas in Laravel applications: scheduled tasks (cron jobs), queue systems, and Horizon supervisor status. Unlike traditional uptime monitors that only check if a server responds, Crontinel reads Laravel internals directly to track queue depth, job processing outcomes, and supervisor health. It stores process status and business results separately, so a job that exits cleanly but processes zero records triggers an alert. The platform offers both a self-hosted open-source package with a built-in dashboard and an optional SaaS platform for teams managing multiple applications across a unified interface.

Buyer questions

What exactly does Crontinel monitor?

Crontinel tracks three things in your Laravel app: scheduled tasks (cron jobs), queues, and Horizon. You get visibility into whether jobs ran on time, how long they took, whether they failed, and what your queue backlog looks like. It actually understands your Laravel internals instead of just checking if the server responded.

How is Crontinel different from Healthchecks.io or Cronitor?

Healthchecks.io only knows if a ping didn't arrive but cannot tell why a job failed or what queue depth looks like. Cronitor is expensive and treats Laravel generically. Crontinel is a first-class Laravel package that hooks directly into the scheduler, queue system, and Horizon with zero configuration beyond a service provider.

Does it work with frameworks other than Laravel?

There is a framework-agnostic PHP package (crontinel/php) for vanilla PHP or other frameworks, and agent packages for Node.js and Python for scheduled/cron-style command execution. The richest experience is with Laravel 11, 12, and 13. PHP 8.2 or higher is required for the PHP package.

Is there a free tier?

Yes. The free plan covers one app with up to five monitors, seven days of history, and Slack, email, Discord, Teams, Telegram, and webhook alerts. No credit card required. It is enough to monitor a side project or evaluate whether Crontinel fits your workflow before committing to a paid plan.

What alert channels are supported?

Slack, email, PagerDuty, Discord, Microsoft Teams, Telegram, SMS, and webhooks are supported. Webhooks support HMAC signature verification. Slack, email, Discord, Teams, Telegram, and webhooks are available on every plan including free; PagerDuty and SMS require a paid plan.
