DotMD is a Markdown viewer and editor for Mac that integrates AI agent review into your document workflow. The free reading mode lets you open and render .md files with support for tables, code, Mermaid diagrams and formulas. DotMD Pro adds an editor with live preview, comments tied to specific passages, and integration with AI agents over MCP (Model Context Protocol). When you comment on text, connected agents like Claude Code or Codex can read your feedback, edit the file, and send it back for review. Changes appear as diffs next to comments, old text in red and new in green, which you can accept or request changes on. The app keeps version history of all changes and works without accounts—your files and comments stay on your Mac, with purchases tied to an anonymous ID that syncs through iCloud across your devices.

Why not just review in the chat?
In a chat you quote a paragraph and the agent rewrites half the file, so you cannot tell what changed. In DotMD a comment is tied to the passage, the fix shows as a diff next to it, and every version of the file is kept. It works like code review, for a document.
Which agents work with DotMD?
Any MCP client works, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and VS Code. You connect them with one URL in the agent's MCP settings: http://127.0.0.1:8089/mcp. DotMD's guide has the exact line for each agent.
Do I need an account?
No. There are no accounts. Your files, comments and history stay on your Mac. The purchase is tied to an anonymous ID that syncs through iCloud, so it works on all your Macs.
Where do the AI actions run?
AI actions run on your Mac with Apple Intelligence, or with your own API key for the provider you choose. The text goes straight from your Mac to that provider. DotMD has no server in between.
Can I get a refund?
App Store purchases go through Apple's refund process. Direct purchases can be refunded within 14 days through Paddle, no questions asked. The yearly Pro plan starts with a free 3-day trial so you can try everything first.
