Porchlight
Live chat, grounded AI and one shared inbox for your website
Live chat platform with grounded AI assistant and shared team inbox for website visitor support
Overview
The Porchlight homepage
Porchlight is a live chat platform that combines real-time messaging with a grounded AI assistant called Lamplighter. The AI grounds answers in your own content and hands over to a human when unsure, always labeling itself as AI. All conversations from chat, email and offline notes are unified in one shared Front Desk inbox accessible to unlimited agents on every plan. The platform displays availability states accurately: Lit when someone is available, Lamplit when only AI is active, and Dark when no one is available. Visitors can leave notes when unavailable that become tickets for follow-up. Features include proactive welcome triggers, voice and video calls, translation support, and privacy controls like hashed IPs and visitor data export.

Buyer questions
Can my whole team use the Free plan?
Yes. Every plan includes unlimited agents. The Free plan covers one website, with its own limits for AI replies, storage and automation.
Does the AI pretend to be a person?
No. Lamplighter labels itself as AI, grounds answers in your own content and hands over when it is unsure.
What happens when nobody is available?
The launcher switches to its Dark state. Visitors can leave a note, which becomes a ticket for the team to follow up.
Will the widget change my website's styling?
The widget is isolated from your website's CSS. Add your site's snippet and configure the widget in your workspace.
How is AI usage priced?
Each plan includes a monthly AI reply allowance. Extra replies are available as add-ons, and you can set a usage cap.
