Premail is a standalone desktop application for Mac, Windows, and Linux that runs in the background to filter and organize email across multiple accounts. It integrates with Gmail, Outlook, and iCloud while working alongside any email client—Apple Mail, Thunderbird, Spark, or your browser—without replacing it.
When email arrives, Premail evaluates each message against rules you create in plain English, assigns a confidence score using AI, and takes action automatically: archiving newsletters, trashing cold pitches, moving shipping notifications to folders, or quarantining suspicious mail. You choose the AI model: your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key, a local Ollama instance, or Apple Intelligence on compatible Macs—none of which sends data through Premail servers.
Every account starts in Learning mode, showing what Premail would do without touching messages, so you can verify its judgement before enabling Live mode. The app includes built-in filters for spam, cold email, newsletters, and recruiters; custom rule creation; an Activity log showing every decision; and optional Briefings that summarize what needs attention rather than bombarding you with notifications.
Pro plans unlock professional inbox support, unlimited custom rules, Reputation Shield (domain threat intelligence), and rule explainability. A Lifetime license offers one-time payment for the downloaded app.

Do I have to change my email app?
No. Premail is a separate companion app that acts on your inbox, not a replacement for your email client. You can keep using Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird, or your browser.
Will Premail start moving my email immediately?
No. Accounts start in Learning mode, which previews decisions without changing messages. You choose when to switch an account to Live mode.
Does my email get sent to AI companies?
That depends on your setup. With a cloud AI provider, classification requests go directly from your computer to that provider. With local Ollama or Apple Intelligence, classification stays on your computer.
What do I need to get started?
You need the Premail desktop app, a supported email account (Gmail, Outlook, or iCloud), and an AI model: your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key, a local Ollama setup, or Apple Intelligence on a compatible Mac.
Is there a free trial for Pro?
The free tier is fully functional with up to two personal inboxes. You only need Pro for professional inboxes, unlimited custom rules, and Reputation Shield.
