Punchcard sits in your Mac menu bar and quietly tracks which applications you use throughout your day, sampling every few seconds to see what is in front. If you enable itemized browsing, it also notes the website names from your browser's front tab (showing only the domain, never the full address or incognito windows), after macOS asks for your permission.
At the hour you choose, Punchcard prints you a receipt for your day, itemized by app and website, with a timestamp and a real Code 128 barcode that encodes the date. The receipt prints as a 1080×1350 PNG that fits social media platforms, and a plain-text version goes to your clipboard. You can add apps or websites to a never-print list to exclude them entirely.
All your data lives in a single SQLite file on your Mac at ~/Library/Application Support/Punchcard/punchcard.sqlite. Nothing is sent to the cloud, no analytics or telemetry is collected, and the app makes no network calls except for license activation. The app needs no special macOS permissions to track app names by default, and users can delete all their data by deleting that one file.
Punchcard tracks for free with the first two receipts included at no cost. After that, a one-time payment of $9 unlocks unlimited receipts and future updates on one license key covering two Macs.

Buyer questions
Does it connect to the internet?
Only for license activation. The free version makes no network calls. Once licensed, the app checks at launch to catch refunds, but being offline never locks you out. Nothing about your day is sent, and tracking and printing work with no connection.
What data does Punchcard collect?
It tracks the name of the app currently in front, sampled every few seconds, and whether you are idle. With itemized browsing enabled, it also notes the website name from your browser's front tab after you give macOS permission. It never reads window titles, document names, incognito windows, or anything you type.
Can it show which websites I used?
Yes, if you enable itemized browsing in Settings. Your browser time then prints as the actual sites you used (GitHub, YouTube, Google Docs) as separate lines. It works in Chrome, Brave, Edge and Vivaldi, keeps only the site name, never reads incognito windows, and all data stays on your Mac.
Does it run on Intel Macs?
Yes. Punchcard ships as a universal binary with both Apple silicon and Intel slices, and requires macOS 13 Ventura or later.
Is this a subscription?
No. It is nine dollars, one time, and that covers every update from here on. The entire brand promise is anti-subscription; charging rent for a little paper receipt would be a very strange thing to do.
