The Replayowl homepage

Replayowl records what visitors do on your website and plays it back the way they saw it. The hosted service starts free with 1,000 sessions a month, or you can run the same open source code on Cloudflare Workers or Node.js with recordings in your own bucket for no cost.

The replay shows whole sessions across pages, console errors with stack traces marked on the timeline, and searches by user ID, page, duration, device, errors or rage clicks. Replays reproduce hover menus, focus styles, Shadow DOM, CSS-in-JS and constructed stylesheets to match the live page.

The recorder is lightweight at 7.8 KB gzipped with no runtime dependencies. Masking happens in the visitor's browser so original text never reaches the server, and it masks text inputs, email addresses and digit runs by default.

What counts as a session?

One visitor's visit in one browser tab, across page loads within 30 minutes. The monthly allowance counts new sessions across all projects of your organization, per calendar month in UTC.

What happens when I reach the session limit?

Sessions that are already being recorded finish. New sessions are not recorded until the next month starts or you upgrade. Nothing you have already recorded is deleted.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, within 14 days of the first payment of a new subscription you can email support@replayowl.com for a full refund. Renewal payments are not refunded.

Why is Replayowl licensed under AGPL-3.0?

The AGPL-3.0 license allows you to run, change and self-host Replayowl for any purpose. It requires that if you offer a modified version to others as a hosted service, you share your changes under the same license. This prevents someone from taking the project, closing it, and selling it back as a proprietary service.
