SpeechFast is a voice dictation application for Mac that allows users to hold the fn key and dictate text in any app. The transcription and text cleanup happen entirely on the Mac's chip, so audio never leaves the device. The app supports 25 European languages with automatic language detection and offers three transcription engines: Parakeet, Cohere Transcribe, and Apple's built-in engine. It works offline, stores no audio, requires no account, and cleans up speech by removing fillers, repeats and false starts while fixing punctuation. Users control it with three gestures: hold fn to dictate, use Shift+fn for hands-free mode, or press Esc to cancel.

Which Mac do I need?
An Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later) running macOS 26. Clean-up uses Apple Intelligence. If it is turned off, SpeechFast pastes the transcript as is.
Which languages are supported?
With Parakeet, 25 European languages including English, French, German and Spanish are supported with automatic detection. You can switch languages from one sentence to the next.
Is it a subscription?
No. It is €29.99 once for 3 Macs with updates included.
Are my dictations kept?
The audio is never kept. The text stays in a local history for 30 days by default. You can shorten that, turn it off or erase everything.
Why does it need Accessibility access?
To detect the fn key from any app and paste the text at your cursor. Your clipboard is saved before pasting and restored right after.
