It indexes repositories from 11 supported programming languages, parsing code into logical nodes and deriving relationships like calls, dependencies, and blast radius. Agents query the graph through MCP to resolve symbols, inspect callers, and understand cross-repository dependencies without hallucinating functions or missing impacts.

The platform works with Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Windsurf, VS Code, and other MCP-compatible agents. It tracks feature branches and uncommitted edits, so agents answer from the exact code state developers are working on. Symvanta updates automatically via GitHub webhooks, keeping the graph current as code is pushed, with no manual setup required.

Benchmarks show agents using Symvanta are 27-47% more correct on real codebase tasks and use 15% fewer tokens. The platform stores code symbols, relationships, and vector embeddings encrypted per tenant, and does not train AI models on source code.

Does it work with private GitHub repos?

Yes. Symvanta uses GitHub webhooks and encrypted per-tenant credentials. Private repos work identically to public ones.

What data do you store?

Symvanta stores a graph of code symbols, relationships, file hashes, and vector embeddings per tenant, encrypted in transit and at rest. Source files are parsed in memory and discarded by default; storing source code is an optional paid add-on for instant file reads and in-repo search.

How long does indexing take?

A typical 100k-line repository indexes in a few minutes. Subsequent indexing is faster because unchanged files are skipped using content hashing.

Does it work across multiple repositories?

Yes. Repositories in a project share one graph and imports are resolved back to source repositories. HTTP calls between services become cross-repo edges, so queries for callers or blast radius include consumers in other repositories.

Can my agent see my feature branch or unmerged work?

Yes. Open a same-repo pull request and Symvanta auto-tracks and indexes that branch (you can also add a branch from the dashboard). Your agent pins a session to it with ref(op: "use"), so every query answers from the branch instead of the default. Uncommitted working-tree edits can be made queryable too via index_working_tree. The number of tracked branches depends on your plan.
