Hold the fn key and tabi types what you say, cleaned up and ready to use, in any Mac application. It also reads selected text, PDFs, Word files, EPUB books, and photos aloud in real voices across 37 languages. Hold fn and Control to ask questions in any language, rewrite selected text, or generate replies. Every feature runs on Mistral AI's models, with no data stored on their servers—your audio is deleted the moment it becomes text, and your history stays on your Mac. The app requires no account, no card, and is completely free while in beta.

What is tabi?
tabi is a Mac app that combines dictation, text-to-speech, and AI assistance. Hold a key, say what you mean, and cleaned-up text lands at your cursor in any Mac app. Hold fn and Control to ask questions, rewrite text, or get replies. Select any text and it reads it back in a real voice.
How is tabi different from Apple Dictation or other dictation apps?
Most dictation apps stop after the text lands. tabi keeps going: hold fn and Control to get answers at your cursor, rewrite selected text, or generate replies. It reads text in real voices with learning capabilities for words it gets wrong, and runs entirely on Mistral AI with no other AI company seeing your data.
Can tabi read a PDF, a book or a photo to me?
Yes. Open Listen in tabi and choose a file: a PDF, Word file, EPUB, text file, or photo. tabi displays PDFs as pages and reads aloud with the sentence highlighted and each word marked as it is said. Scanned PDFs and photos are read using Mistral OCR.
Is tabi free? Do I need an account?
Yes, tabi is completely free while in beta with every feature enabled: dictation, read aloud, Listen, asks, every voice, and voice cloning. There is nothing to sign up for—just download the app and it signs itself in.
Where do my words go?
Your words go to Mistral, the French AI company, passing through tabi's relay on Cloudflare which forwards each call and keeps none of it. Audio is discarded the moment it becomes text, and your history is saved as text on your own Mac, which you can delete anytime.
