Convalesce

Self-healing data infrastructure for data pipelines and workflows

Overview

Screenshot of the Convalesce homepage

The Convalesce homepage

Convalesce automates the investigation of failed data pipeline runs using AI agents. When a pipeline fails, the system captures the error, gathers context from connected tools including orchestrators, warehouses, transformation code, and repositories, analyzes the root cause, and opens a pull request with a proposed fix and supporting evidence. Engineers review and merge the fix manually.

The platform reads metadata about run failures, table schemas, data lineage, code changes, and warehouse information. It performs small, capped, read-only queries with personal columns masked to confirm the cause. Convalesce integrates with orchestration tools like Airflow, Dagster, and Prefect; data warehouses like Snowflake and Databricks; transformation tools like dbt and Spark; and code repositories via GitHub. The system is designed to reduce the time teams spend manually investigating pipeline failures while providing transparent, evidence-backed recommendations.

Capabilities

  • Automatic failure capture and context gathering
  • Blast radius analysis showing downstream impact
  • Evidence-backed pull requests for manual review
  • Read-only schema and metadata queries with masking
  • AI-powered root cause identification
  • Lineage tracking and impact analysis
  • Minimal data leaving environment

Buyer questions

Does Convalesce apply fixes on its own?

No. Convalesce opens a pull request with the fix and supporting evidence for review, but all deployments require manual approval from an engineer.

What access does Convalesce need?

Convalesce requires read access to run metadata and table schemas. It performs small, capped, read-only queries with personal columns masked to investigate failures. Code access is optional and requires installing the GitHub app on selected repositories.

Does data leave the environment?

Only the incident bundle needed for investigation leaves the environment. It contains details of the failed run but is not a copy of the warehouse, and rows are never stored.

How long does setup take?

Setup is quick: sign in with GitHub or Google, answer three questions, and connect the tools you need. The system begins building context on the next failed run.

Which tools are supported?

Convalesce supports Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, dbt, Spark, Snowflake, Databricks, Postgres, AWS Glue, Amazon S3, Kafka, Great Expectations, Tableau, GitHub, and Lineage. BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage, Dataplex, Vertex AI, Looker, and Fivetran are coming soon.
