dol
Markdown notes that sync themselves
A markdown notes app for Windows, macOS, iOS and Android with wikilinks, live preview, full-text search, and sync to your own CouchDB.
Overview
The dol homepage
dol is a markdown notes application available on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android. Your notes are plain markdown with live preview rendering headings, lists and checkboxes inline while you type. You can link notes together using wikilinks by typing [[note name]], search every note with full-text search that matches titles and body text, and organize notes in nested folders.
Notes sit on your machine and sync across devices through your own CouchDB database. When sync is on, edits replicate between machines automatically. Your credentials are stored in the OS keychain, and notes never travel through Praxo Studio's servers. You can import an existing vault as a zip of .md files and export everything back out the same way whenever you want.

Buyer questions
Where are my notes kept?
Notes are stored in a database on your own machine. They stay there unless you turn sync on, at which point they move between your devices and the CouchDB server you named, but never through Praxo Studio servers.
Can I get my notes back out?
Yes, whenever you want. Export writes every note as a zip of plain .md files that any other editor can open.
Is there a phone app?
Yes, dol is on the App Store and Google Play. It syncs with the desktop app through the same CouchDB.
Why does Windows warn about the installer?
dol is not signed with a code-signing certificate yet, so Windows shows a blue Windows protected your PC screen the first time you run it. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
