Franca is a translation app that lets you speak or type in your language and sends your message in the recipient's language as either a text or a natural-sounding voice note, across messaging apps they already use. The app works with WhatsApp, Messages, email, Telegram, LinkedIn, Viber, LINE, Instagram and Messenger, and translates voice notes you receive as well. It supports over 150 languages with voice in 54 of them and text in the rest. You can also use Franca face-to-face with someone speaking another language, or create shareable links that let others read and hear messages in their own language. Text translation is free; voice notes require a paid plan. The app is available on iPhone and through the web, with Android coming soon.

Pricing
Pricing model: Freemium
Free: 5 voice minutes a month, 30 translated texts a day, up to 10 minutes a month of translating voice notes received. Plus: €3.99 a month billed monthly (60 voice minutes a month, unlimited translated texts). Pro: pricing not specified. Pay yearly and get 2 months free.

Is there a fair use limit?
Each recording or upload can be up to 5 minutes. If you run out of voice minutes mid-conversation, you can go up to 5 minutes over, so nothing gets cut off. A safety limit stops abuse.
Where do my recordings go?
Recordings are sent to AI providers through the server for translation and voice generation. They are not stored; only the text is kept for 7 days as a Franca link. AI providers do not train their models on the data.
Is the voice real?
No, voice notes are made by AI from your words. You should tell people when a voice is AI-made and not use Franca to pretend to be someone else.
Does the other person need Franca?
No. They receive a normal message or voice note in the app they already use, without needing to install Franca.
Is Franca on Android?
Android is coming soon. Until then, you can use Franca on the web.
