Overview

The HyperFrontend homepage
HyperFrontend is an open source framework for micro-frontend architecture that allows teams to sandbox and compose existing web applications at build time or runtime. It provides typed host and hostee SDKs, a CLI, and a dev server that work with any framework including React, Vue, Angular, and vanilla JavaScript. Features are built into self-contained shell packages with dependencies bundled in, enabling independent team shipping schedules without build-time dependencies. The framework uses standardized communication via the @hyperfrontend/nexus library with optional encryption, message validation, and contract enforcement for safe cross-origin composition.

Buyer questions
What framework compatibility does HyperFrontend support?
HyperFrontend works with any framework including React, Vue, Angular, and vanilla JavaScript, as well as any build tool. Features are framework-agnostic and build into self-contained shell packages with their dependencies bundled in.
How does HyperFrontend handle communication between features and hosts?
Features and hosts communicate through typed messages routed through a broker-channel architecture with optional encryption. Both sides declare a contract with accepted and emitted action types, and all payloads are validated against their schemas. Messages can be encrypted using v3 or v4 protocols.
What are the display modes available for embedding features?
HyperFrontend supports four built-in display modes: embedded (inline within the host), dialog (modal dialog), popup (separate window), and standalone (full-page). Hosts can select which modes a feature supports and choose one per open call.
Does HyperFrontend require any runtime dependencies?
No, HyperFrontend has zero runtime dependencies. Features build into self-contained shell packages with all their dependencies bundled in, so a host only needs to install one package with no transitive install burden.
