The Muster homepage

Muster is a native Mac menu bar app that monitors Claude Code, Codex and Cursor sessions and alerts you when an agent needs your attention. It lets you see what the agent is asking, approve or deny supported requests, and switch between sessions without leaving your current application.

The app runs locally on your Mac, reading session files and communicating over localhost. It is free and open source under the MIT License, with no accounts or analytics. You can search through sessions from the last three hours, see token costs, and use keyboard shortcuts to navigate and respond quickly.

How do I know when Claude Code needs me?

Muster counts the sessions waiting on you in the menu bar and shows an alert at the top of your screen.

Can I see what the agent wants before I answer?

Yes. Press ⌥↓ on the alert to see the agent's reason, the whole command, or every option of a question with its note, then answer with ⌥↩ or ⌥1 to ⌥9.

Is it free?

Yes. Muster is open source under the MIT License, with no account.

Does it send my code anywhere?

Muster sends no code or analytics. Local agent hooks use 127.0.0.1, and GitHub update checks are optional. In version 1.4, enabling an SSH host transfers session summaries from that host to your Mac, but full transcripts are not copied.

Can it answer Cursor's prompts?

Not yet. Cursor does not let another app answer for it, so Muster shows you which chat is waiting and opens it in Cursor.
