ProxyForge
Free Nginx and Apache config generator for reverse proxies, WordPress, static sites and PHP-FPM
Generate production-ready Nginx and Apache configs for reverse proxies, WordPress, static sites and PHP-FPM apps, tested on real servers.
Overview

The ProxyForge homepage
ProxyForge is a browser-based config generator that creates production-ready Nginx and Apache configurations. It supports reverse proxies, WordPress, static sites, and PHP-FPM applications. Every generated config is tested on real Nginx 1.27 and Apache 2.4 servers during development using nginx -t or apachectl configtest, not just read over for typos.
The tool runs entirely in your browser with no signup required. As you fill in your domain, backend address, and settings like HTTPS, gzip compression, and WebSocket support, the config updates live. You can then copy the result directly to your server. ProxyForge catches common configuration traps that break real servers, such as deprecated directives, directives not allowed in certain file contexts, and syntax errors from newer versions.

Buyer questions
Why does nginx -t say unknown directive "http2"?
Your Nginx is older than 1.25.1. Older versions turn HTTP/2 on in the listen line instead: listen 443 ssl http2;. Check your version with nginx -v. If it's below 1.25.1, tick Older Nginx (before 1.25.1) in the Config Generator.
Why does my Let's Encrypt renewal fail behind an HTTPS redirect?
If port 80 redirects everything to HTTPS, the Let's Encrypt verification is redirected too and renewal fails. The port 80 block needs an exception for /.well-known/acme-challenge/ before the general redirect.
Why can't my .htaccess use ProxyPass?
Apache only allows ProxyPass in the main server config or a virtual host, never in .htaccess. In .htaccess the only way to proxy is mod_rewrite's [P] flag, which cannot pass the original Host header or rewrite backend redirects.
Why do uploads fail with 413 Request Entity Too Large?
Nginx rejects request bodies over 1 MB by default. Raise the limit with client_max_body_size using the Max upload size field in the Config Generator.
Why do I get ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS behind Cloudflare?
Cloudflare's Flexible SSL mode connects to your server over plain HTTP, so your HTTP-to-HTTPS redirect sends every request back to HTTPS forever. Set Cloudflare's SSL/TLS mode to Full (strict), which needs a valid certificate on your server.
