Overview

The Upcheck homepage
Upcheck monitors websites and APIs around the clock, checking uptime every 5 minutes via HTTPS requests, tracking SSL/TLS certificate expiry, monitoring DNS records, domain registration status, and specific page content or changes. It can also monitor TCP ports and API endpoints with custom headers and expected status codes. When issues are detected, alerts are confirmed by a second probe before notifying teams through email, Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, or webhooks. Configurable warning thresholds at 30, 14, and 7 days help teams address certificate expiries and domain renewals proactively. The service provides full certificate details, check histories, and an activity feed for each site, with reusable recipient lists for team roles.

Buyer questions
What is API monitoring?
API monitoring is calling an API endpoint on a schedule from outside the system and checking that it answers correctly with the right status code, content in the body, and within acceptable time limits, with whatever headers or credentials a real client would send. It differs from uptime monitoring, which only checks whether a page answers, by judging the answer itself.
How is API monitoring different from uptime monitoring?
Uptime monitoring only checks whether a URL answers, while API monitoring checks whether it answers correctly. Plain uptime checks accept any 2xx or 3xx status; API checks specify the expected status, may require text in the body, may send tokens, and can set response-time limits. On Upcheck they are the same check with HTTP options.
Can API monitoring send authorization headers or API keys?
Yes, up to ten request headers can be sent with every probe, including Authorization: Bearer, X-API-Key, Accept, or tenant headers. Header values are stored and shown to members of your organization who can see the website. Use a key scoped to health checks rather than a production credential.
Does API monitoring measure response latency?
Yes, every probe records the time to response and you can set a limit in milliseconds. A response over the limit fails the probe and fires a separate slow-response trigger rather than the downtime trigger, so the alert indicates slow performance separately.
What are the configurable warning thresholds?
Upcheck offers configurable warning thresholds at 30, 14, and 7 days for SSL certificate expiry alerts. You can choose which thresholds you want per site or across all of them.
