CitrusMail is a free, open source desktop email client for Mac, Windows and Linux that combines mail, calendar and contacts in one window with read receipts
Overview
The CitrusMail homepage
CitrusMail is a free, open source email client for Mac, Windows and Linux. It opens any IMAP or POP3 mailbox with built-in settings for Gmail, iCloud, Outlook, Yahoo, Fastmail, Zoho, GMX, Yandex and Proton Bridge.
The app includes a calendar that syncs over CalDAV with day, week, month and year views, and contacts that sync over CardDAV. Read receipts show whether messages are Delivered, Opened or Bounced.
CitrusMail features AI capabilities where you bring your own API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI or Perplexity for summaries, replies and questions. It also translates messages and replies between languages, and allows a custom signature for each mailbox.
Being open source under the MIT licence, developers can build their own branded email client from the template, customising the name, logo and colours, and locking it to their own mail servers.
