Overview

The GenesisDB homepage
GenesisDB is an open source event sourcing database released under the MIT license. Version 2.0 is written in Go as a single static binary with no runtime dependencies, making it easy to deploy and embed within Go applications. The database is CloudEvents native, supporting hierarchical subject trees and real-time subscriptions over Server-Sent Events.
It features GDBQL for querying with filters, ordering, grouping, aggregates, projections and subqueries. Data integrity is maintained through SHA-256 hash chains where every event is cryptographically linked to its predecessor, allowing complete audit verification. The system supports GDPR erasure of personal data from reference payloads while keeping the hash chain valid and maintaining audit trails.
GenesisDB 2.0 eliminates separate editions and license keys, offering every feature to all users. It serves as a drop-in replacement for version 1.x, with automatic migration and backward compatibility for existing routes and backups, allowing users to upgrade at their own pace.

Buyer questions
Is GenesisDB really free?
Yes. GenesisDB 2.0 is open source under the MIT license with no editions, license keys, event limits, or subscriptions. You can use it commercially, modify it, embed it, and redistribute it.
Is GenesisDB 2.0 compatible with 1.x?
Yes. GenesisDB 2.0 is a drop-in replacement for 1.x. Start it on an existing 1.x data directory and it will migrate automatically on first start. Every 1.x route still answers with the same status and body, so existing clients keep working while you move to new SDKs at your own pace.
How does GenesisDB ensure data integrity?
Every event is SHA-256 chained to its predecessor, creating a hash chain that can be cryptographically verified. The whole store can be audited with a single request to verify the integrity of all historical data.
How does GenesisDB handle GDPR erasure?
GenesisDB supports GDPR erasure of personal data in reference payloads with a single request. The hash chain remains valid after erasure and an audit trail is written to document the deletion.
What is special about GenesisDB 2.0?
GenesisDB 2.0 is released as fully open source under MIT license. It is a single static binary written in Go with no runtime dependencies, features CloudEvents native support, and serves as a drop-in replacement for version 1.x installations with automatic migration.
