Latent
Mac disk and memory cleaner for AI developers
Finds and safely removes storage used by AI tools, models, caches and build artifacts on macOS, with memory cleaning and recovery built in.
Overview

The Latent homepage
Latent is a disk and memory cleaner for macOS developers. It identifies storage consumed by AI tools like Ollama and Hugging Face, development tools like Xcode and Docker, and build artifacts like node_modules, attributing each gigabyte to its owner. The app uses a safety system with three tiers: items proven to return automatically (R), items you must decide about (I), and protected system items (P). Every removal goes to the Trash for undo, and Latent never suggests deleting anything without evidence it can be recovered. It includes an MCP server for AI assistants like Claude to request cleanups with your final confirmation, sorts AI-generated images and videos by similarity, and frees memory safely with tool-specific commands.

Buyer questions
How does Latent decide what is safe to delete?
Latent uses a four-tier evidence system: Registry identity (checking artifacts still answer on their registry), Recorded provenance (tool's own index showing where entries came from), Vendor contract (vendor-provided purge commands), and Vendor documentation (vendor statements about re-fetching or rebuilding). Items with proven recovery are marked R (Recoverable), items requiring your decision are marked I (In your hands), and system items are marked P (Protected). Nothing is suggested for deletion without evidence.
Can I undo deletions made by Latent?
Yes, everything deleted goes to the Trash where you can restore it. For items that cannot be held in the Trash (like package cache re-fetches), Latent records a re-fetch command that you can run to restore them. Latent's promise is that nothing is deleted without a way back.
Can AI assistants like Claude automatically delete files?
AI assistants can read the scan and request cleanups, but every deletion requires your final manual confirmation. The agent drafts the cleanup, but it runs only after you approve it. Assistants cannot open locks on uncertain items; they are limited to the same safe allowlist as the one-click Optimize feature.
What storage does Latent find and clean?
Latent finds and can remove storage used by AI models (Ollama, Hugging Face), development tools (Xcode DerivedData, Docker), package managers (npm cache, Gradle modules, pip), build artifacts (node_modules, Rust target, virtualenvs), AI-generated images and videos, and your own files like old downloads, duplicates, screenshots, and build artifacts.
Is there a free trial?
Latent is free to scan, and your first 10 GB of cleanup is free. After that, you can purchase a license for $12.99 one-time (launch special $9.99) covering 3 Macs.
