The free Community Edition supports up to 10 users with all core features: automatic version control and revision history, approval workflows with electronic signatures, immutable audit trails, full-text search, and role-based access control. Organizations can deploy LocalDMS on their own Windows servers for complete data privacy and sovereignty, or choose a hosted SaaS option. Paid perpetual licenses are available for teams of 20, 50, or 100+ users, with optional annual maintenance plans for updates. Are LocalDMS licenses really perpetual with no annual fees?
Yes. All paid LocalDMS licenses are perpetual, meaning you pay once and own the software forever. The first year of upgrades is included at no extra cost. From Year 2, an optional Annual Maintenance Plan at 10% of your license price per year keeps you on the latest version, but your license never expires if you choose not to subscribe.
Can I deploy LocalDMS on my own servers?
Yes. On-premises deployment is LocalDMS's primary model. You can install it on your own Windows server and maintain complete control over your data, security, and infrastructure. A hosted SaaS option is also available if you prefer not to manage server infrastructure yourself.
Does LocalDMS include document version control?
Yes. Every document revision is automatically tracked. You can view the full revision history and retrieve any previous version at any time, which is essential for compliance and audit trails.
What happens if my team grows beyond my licensed user count?
If your team grows beyond your current license tier, you simply upgrade to the next tier by paying the difference between what you paid and the higher tier price. Your documents, configuration, and data remain fully intact through the upgrade.
