Retainer
CRM software that watches renewals, quiet relationships, stalled proposals, and unpaid invoices for independent consultants
Retainer is a consultant-native CRM that monitors renewals, client relationships, proposals, and invoices, surfacing what needs attention on a single screen.
Overview

The Retainer homepage
Retainer is a CRM built specifically for independent consultants and fractional executives managing client retainers and projects. It monitors six key signals—renewal windows, going-quiet relationships, stalled proposals, overdue invoices, unbilled hours, and deals worth reconsidering—and ranks them by their cost to ignore, displaying what needs attention on a single Today screen.
The product connects to Google Calendar to automatically populate client history, eliminating manual data entry. It includes a deal pipeline with six stages that converts to engagements with one click, time and invoicing features to log hours and turn extra work into draft invoices, and a weekly Monday digest email.
Unlike generic CRMs designed for sales volume, Retainer focuses on relationship continuity and revenue retention. It is currently free during beta, with no credit card required. The product is single-user and built for one person's book of business.

Buyer questions
What makes Retainer different from a generic CRM?
Retainer is built for consulting relationships, not sales volume. It automatically notices when a retainer ends in six weeks or when your best client has gone quiet—things generic CRMs won't tell you. It combines the pipeline, delivery, and invoicing workflows into one place so context doesn't die at handoffs.
How quickly can I start using Retainer?
About ten minutes. Connect your Google Calendar and Retainer reads your meeting history to draft your client list. You confirm who's a client and who's a prospect, and your first Today screen already has real history behind it.
Is Retainer right for sales teams?
No. Retainer is built for independent consultants and small firms running retainers and project work. It's not designed for sales teams chasing volume, anyone who needs shared pipelines and per-seat permissions, or single-transaction work.
What can Retainer see in my calendar?
Retainer reads only event times, titles, and invitee lists in read-only mode, just to distinguish client meetings from personal appointments. It cannot create, move, or delete anything, and you can disconnect it with one click.
“Free during beta” — what's the catch?
There isn't one. Everything is free while Retainer is in beta, and you'll know what the paid plans cost before beta ends, not after. Beta users get notice and a better price than anyone who shows up later. We'd rather have your feedback now than your card.
